Help us in the fight to end youth homelessness and child sex trafficking.

“This isn’t just a project, it’s a movement; millions of children all across the United States are counting on us. It’s time to stand up and change our country” – Sean Wrench, founder and executive director.

Current Volunteer/Intern Positions we have available:

Event Coordinator -

We currently have 2 major yearly events (4th of July Freedom Walk, Holiday of Hope and World Homeless Day National Sleepout) ps. More to come! Our mission is to raise awareness nationally to help children/youth that are homeless. Last year Freedom Walk took place in 8 cities throughout the country. Holiday of Hope had 3 locations this year, and the Sleepout is a new event. Our ultimate goal is to have every major city in the country host one or all of these events.  The events are promoted on Facebook, Twitter and our website. The first event you will work on is Freedom Walk, which we use to raise awareness nationally to help children who are victims of child sex trafficking.  You will oversee the overall details of the event and work directly with the volunteer event coordinators in each city the event is taking place in.

Media Promotion - Awareness brings Action. One of the best ways we can raise awareness is by utilizing the media (TV, Radio and Newspaper) to tell the story of the millions of children in our country that are homeless or victims of child sex trafficking. In this position you will work to actively contact various media sources and ask them to help us tell these children’s stories. You will also help us to develop a lasting relationship with the media sources we work with.

Artist/Celebrity Recruitment and Development - Our goal is to have as many Musicians, Athletes and Celebrities as possible simply voicing their support for our cause.  We ask them to cut a 30 second PSA voicing their support for the cause. Getting them to wear our T-shirt and take a picture is a big help also! We also ask them to promote us on their website, twitter and facebook.  You will email/call Bands, Managers, and Agents etc. to ask them to support the cause by just giving us their voice.

Volunteer Placement - We are about to launch a national PSA campaign in partnership with Clear Channel Communications. In this position you will field phone calls and emails that come in from the PSA. You will also contact youth shelters to pair the volunteer with a shelter in their area.

Web Development - Our website is a Wordpress driven site. We need help developing new parts to the site and adding additional pages/information etc. If you can also do graphic design that would be a major bonus, but simply having help developing the site would be a huge help! We also need help editing videos to go on the website.

Social Media – We want to create an online network of passionate people who want to help these children. Your mission is to help us have a very strong online presence. You will play an integral part in boosting Forsaken Generation’s social media presence, including working with Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, our Blog Page and more.

Research - This one is a tall and tedious task, I won’t beat around the bush! Starting with major U.S. cities we need to develop a list of youth homeless shelters in the United States. There are 2 lists currently in place being used by 2 major organizations but the lists are very incomplete. The best way to make a complete list is by contacting existing shelters and asking them what other organizations in their city are working with these kids. You will add the list to a spreadsheet. We realize making a complete list will take a very long time, but having a detailed list is SO critical to all that we do. Developing this list is a REALLY big deal ! During your research we will ask 1 to 2 shelters each week to be guest bloggers on our Blog Page. This is to highlight the work they are doing in their community and also raise the overall awareness for youth homelessness.

Fundraising - This one is fairly self explanatory. In order to help anyone, we need money to do that. We are looking for individuals, businesses, churches and anyone else you can think of to partner with us by financially supporting our efforts. Organizing fundraisers is a big help also!

Legislation/Policy Making Support - There are currently numerous pieces of legislation that are being reviewed by the White House, Congress and the Senate that deal with youth homelessness or child sex trafficking.

Some of this legislation is extremely CRITICAL and we need to put pressure on our policymakers to vote yes. One of the ways we currently do this is by teaming up with various organizations on Change.org. They are numerous online petitions in place that need thousands of additional signatures. You will help us by getting as MANY signatures as you possibly can using any way you can possibly think of ! Be creative! You will also help us by organizing letter writing and phone campaigns aimed at local, state and national policymakers.

Food and Clothing Drives: Almost all of the children and families we work with always need food and clothing. Many families can’t afford to pay their rent/mortgage because making sure their children have food and clothing is so important. We’ve put together a great guide on how to organize a food or clothing drive. This cannot happen only once or twice a year, it needs to happen year round.  You will help us organize food and clothing drives to support local organizations in your community.

College Liason – Our goal is to have a Forsaken Generation Volunteer Group or “Street Team” on every College Campus in the entire country. You will help us by contacting colleges and connecting them with volunteer opportunities in their city. We also will offer internships, and actively seek an opportunity for each campus to form a Forsaken Generation RSO (Registered Student Organization)

Church Liason – Pretty much the same deal as the College Liason but you’ll help us by contacting churches.

Can you think of another way to help us? We LOVE creativity! Email us at info@forsakengeneration.com and tell us your ideas!
